Go East, Old Man!

Today, I am heading out to Washington DC for a very quick trip. I am meeting with a couple of amazing professors (one physically, one virtually) to defend my dissertation prospectus. It's an exciting time for me as I have spent the last year and half working toward this small step when I can get some valuable feedback, criticism, and guidance for the path forward. A path I hope leads to the completion of an excellent dissertation.

It's a path that has been long and winding, but all these years and all those twists and turns have brought invaluable perspective and patience. I'm more open (too open?) to the shifts in perspective that come with each amazing new book I read for my project. I'm also more confident in my ability to finish the project if only thanks to my tenacity.
